In the 14 years since its foundation, the Global Energy Prize has been awarded to 34 scientists and researchers around the world who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in their field. The laureates come from nine different countries, including Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, Iceland, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, United Kingdom and the USA.

Oleg Favorsky (RU)

Oleg Favorsky was born on January 27, 1929. In 1951 he graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute.

From 1951 to 1973 he led his professional path from engineer to the First Deputy of Central Institute of Aviation Engine Building. After that and till 1987 he was a Chief Engineer and director of MNPO «SOUZ» Vice-President of Academy of Aviation and Aeronautics of International Energy Academy. From 1988 to 1994 he was Deputy Academician-Secretary of Physics and technology problems of Energy (DPhTPE). Since 1990 Oleg Favorsky became the Academician, the Member of RAS and from 1994 to 2003 — Academician-Secretary of DPhTPE, Member of the RAS Presidium.

Since 2003 he is a Deputy Academician-Secretary of the Department of Energy, Mechanics and Management of RAS, Head of the Energy section, scientific consulting on thermophysics and thermoenergy Development of Russia in Energy Sector, Member of the Scientific Office of JSC RAO UES of Russia and «Gazprom», JSC, Chairman of the Russian Foundation of Technological Development. The main directions of Favorsky’s researches are: aviation gas turbine engines, heat transport in space and in high-temperature systems.

In 1987 Oleg Favorsky was awarded with Lenin Prize. In 2008 he received Global Energy International Prize for researches in the field of Applied Gas dynamics, development and creation of gas turbine engines, equipment for decentralized electro power and highly effective gas pumping stations.

Scientific Activities

  • Designed, created and found industrial application for the engine R27-300.
  • Designed, created and found industrial application for a unique gas-turbine engine R79-300, double-flow, with forcing in 110˚ rotating nozzle.
  • Designed, created and found industrial application for a shaft-turbine engine TB-O-100.
  • Designed, created and found industrial application for a gas-turbine unit with capacity of 25 MW.
