The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

Today, on June 4th, the Global Energy Prize laureate professor Thorsteinn Ingi Sigfusson celebrates his 60th anniversary!

“Global Energy” Non-profit partnership team congratulates the Global Energy Prize laureate 2007 professor Thorsteinn Ingi Sigfusson on his 60th anniversary! The Partnership delegation led by its president Igor Lobovskiy will take part in the celebrations in honor of the distinguished scientist. Harpa Concert Hall – Reykjavík’s most beautiful concert hall and conference centre hosts the event.

As Igor Lobovskiy notes, professor Sigfusson’s achievements are acknowledged on the highest level. President of Iceland Mr. Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, as well as Russian president Vladimir Putin thanked the scientist for his huge contribution to the development of energy field, paying special attention to the fact that professor Sigfusson played important role in the enhancement of Russia-Iceland scientific ties. “I wish Thorsteinn that his work, his research and achievement will contribute to the development of the Icelandic-Russian relations and this work will result in the   improvement of the lives of all people on Earth”, - says Igor Lobovskiy.

Thorsteinn Ingi Sigfusson was awarded the Global Energy Prize for his research and development in implementation of hydrogen energy generation in Iceland. Having become the laureate in 2007, the scientist still actively participates in the “Global Energy” partnership’s activities. Experienced energy specialists along with young scientists closely follow his work today.
