This time the nominations for the “Energy of Words” came from 4 continents: starting from South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Kenya and Nigeria to Canada, Germany, Germany and the USA. All the nominated materials were published in mass media from the 1st of March 2015 till the 1st of February 2016. The winner was chosen by the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee, consisting of 20 renowned scientists from 13 countries of the world.

The short-list of the competition also includes: Joseph Joh (Seoul Times, South Korea), Nina Trentmann (Welt, Germany), Karl Wienand (The Munich Eye, Germany), Jennifer Delony (Renewable Energy World, USA).
We do that no one has done before. We`re accumulating articles on energy –related topics from the whole world and this gives a lot of insights on what is really going on in the energy field. It`s interesting that all the leading global media get our press release about the competition and make their own decision on participating or not. The authors register on our web-site and attach their published articles. There`s no hidden monitoring or research  - the best energy journalist are coming to us by themselves”  - noted The Global Energy Non-profit partnership`s president Igor Lobovskiy. The article of Robin Mills was chosen for the rigorous level of research, analytical insight and high standards of writing. It is an unbiased analysis of the economic situation in The Gulf countries (UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia etc.) after the oil prices plummeting back in 2014.

«The wealthy Arab Gulf states are managing to cope using their savings; Iran is benefiting from the removal of sanctions; while Iraq is in a catastrophic situation because of war worsened by the weak economy. But all these countries, to different degrees, are struggling with the problem of diversifying their economies and developing businesses and government revenue streams not dependent on oil. This is crucial because most major oil exporters face a similar challenge, oil prices are likely to remain relatively low for a long period, and the country or countries that succeed best can be a model for others to emulate», - notes Robin Mills.
The Energy of Words 2016 winner will be awarded on June, 17 in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Robin Mills will receive his award at The Global Energy Prize Award Ceremony.
