The Global Energy Prize annually honors outstanding achievements in energy research and technology from around the world that are helping address the world’s various and pressing energy challenges.

The “Global Energy” Board of Trustees at SPIEF-2016

Today, on June 17, SPIEF-2016 hosted the “Global Energy”, Non-profit Partnership`s Board of Trustees meeting. Among the participants were : Alexander Shokhin, Chairman of The Board of Trustees, President at The Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Andrey Murov, Chairman of The Board at PJSC FGC UES and Vladimir Bogdanov, General Director at OJSC Surgutneftegas.

A number of important decisions were made. In particular, the Board of Trustees approved the Nobel Prize Laureate Rae Kwon Chung from South Korea as a member of The Global Energy Prize International Award Committee - the authority that every year selects The GEP laureates! Dr. Chung is the author of the "green growth" concept and a world-renowned expert in sustainable development.   This is a second Nobel Prize laureate in The Committee, the first one is Rodney John Allam form UK.

Another important thing is the fact that The Global Energy Prize might get an official residence in Moscow or St. Petersburg - The House of Global Energy! It will host a museum of Russian energy sector, lecture halls and soon will become a meeting point for the world's scientific elite. The final decision is to be made soon by The Global Energy Non-profit Partnership's Board of Trustees.
